The Two Pillowcase Dress

Pretty Yellow Dress was made with two vintage pillow cases. It is a size 4. It is made with the same pattern I've been using just a different skirt and longer sleeves. I like this because the skirt seems a bit more flowy.

Happily Sewing

A few weeks ago I got fed up with how messy my kitchen was so I took all my sewing stuff and hid it away.

My kitchen was clean! I enjoyed it for several weeks.

Then the other day I told my husband that I missed sewing. Why would I give up something that makes ME happy?

With a little organization I can have a clean kitchen and keep sewing. Plus my husband has given me a little space in his office to store my plastic bins

I've decided to start sewing the same dress pattern with different variations until I can do it in my sleep. I have a ton of ideas rolling around in my head but can't seem to keep up with them and I never get anything started let alone finished. If I keep it simple I can get projects done and post on my Etsy store.

A friend of mine bought it for her little girl. It's the same pattern as the newest dress up on my Etsy. You will be seeing it again very soon!

When I started my store I didn't want it to become a "have to". I want to keep it a "want to". I love matching a vintage fabric, an old dress or a skirt with a cute pattern and make it my own.

After making the kimono for Violet, I knew I had to do something great with the rest of the skirt. When I made my self a yoga bag I thought this would be great material for another bag!

The Joy of Serging

When I was in college I worked in the Theatre Department building Costumes for all the shows. We had lots of great sewing supplies but by far the best were our sergers. After becoming a Homemaker and picking up the love of sewing again I have been wanting one of my own. I started watching Craigslist for the best deal but didn't have much money to spend. One day a lady posted a Bernette made by Bernina for $25!!! Wow, what a deal! If it worked.

It looked like it had been sitting in an open box in an attic for about 10 years and the lady confirmed that it had. The gears were so tight and stuck together that even Eli (my husband) couldn't get them unstuck. We took it all apart, cleaned it out and WD 40ed it! We got everything moving except the upper loop and I think if we had kept working at it we would have gotten it, too.

My parents sweetly gave me the money to have it serviced and now it works just like new!! I LOVE it! I serge EVERYTHING. Oh, that towel has a ragged edge, let me serge it. We need some new cloth wipes, let me serge some. I can't get enough of it.

My first project was a Yoga Mat Bag. I had a scrap piece of material and a matching solid that was the perfect size.

I got another bag almost finished for the Etsy store! I've also been working on cloth snack bags to sell.

Estate Sale and VACATION!

Last weekend I went to an Estate Sale in search of a Baby Lock Serger. It was there on Friday but it was out of my price range. I went back on Sunday when everything was half off with the hopes that it would be there but it had sold. Oh well. It wasn't meant to be.

But I did get this HUGE box of fabric for only $6!!! I'm sure this much fabric would cost well over $200 new. I've already made a dress for myself that turned out too big:( but have lots of plans for when I return from our Vacations. I got a box of thread for $3 and a 6qt slow cooker for $3!! I love it and you can fit a whole chicken in there!

My mother, Ethan and I will be leaving tomorrow for our cross country trip to Georgia to visit my sister! We will be staying with her for a little over a week and driving back to Oklahoma for our Family Reunion. Eli will pick us up in Oklahoma, drive us back to Texas and we will be flying out to visit his side of the family in Virginia and South Carolina! We won't be back in town until the end of June. I will try to post from the road but won't be doing any sewing until I get back to Oklahoma where I have a few projects planned.

I've put my Etsy store on Vacation mode until I return and can fill it up!

Sweet Dress for a Sweet Girl

I just added a Sweet Blue Flower dress to Etsy. I love these prints together.

Two skirts made for little Mercy Rose, sister-in-law. We can't wait to see them this summer!

First Sale on Etsy

I had my first sale on Etsy!! A pair of leg warmers in the summer:) It was great that the item was removed from my store and my button on the side of this blog. I didn't have to do anything but pack it up and ship- tomorrow. Can't wait to get more stuff sewn to put in the store!

Ebay Success!

My Ebay dress sold!!! I was really excited when I got the email. It only sold for the starting price but I had 4 people watching it. Now I just have to wait and see if I get paid. I've heard that sometimes you don't.

I'll be keeping my eye out for other cute items to put up next.

I've also had quite a few views on my Etsy store items. Now, I'm sure that's been most of my family but it makes me feel good anyway:)

Thrifty Finds

I added some new items to my Etsy store! I get more and more excited each time something new is finished and added. I wish I had all them time in the world to sew but I have many things that keep my attention through out the day.

Here is my pile of thrift store finds I will start working on after the weekend. I will take before and after pics to document my process.

Here is the first thing I've ever sold (or trying to sell)on Ebay! I found this cute Oh! So Jane dress at the thrift store this last Saturday and knew it would be the perfect thing to sell on Ebay.
This little Pillow Case Dress w/Flower is my first listing on Etsy!
Setting up my Ebay and Etsy accounts was simple. Now I just have to get listing AND sewing!! I have some great summer little girls dresses I'm working on and can't wait to show you.
